Report from Bitcoin Conference Amsterdam 2022 with Gabriel Shipton and Stella Assange
Before they went after Assange, they locked out Wikileaks from using their crowd funding platforms. The one that did not censor remained; Bitcoin. There’s a special relationship between the early adopters of Bitcoin and Julian Assange. Stella Assange, Julian’s wife, and Gabriel Shipton, his brother, appeared as guest speakers at the Bitcoin Amsterdam conference October 12th in Amsterdam.
Julian Assange has been locked up a political prisoner for over three years now, without having been convicted. He remains in UK’s harshest of prison conditions in Belmarsh prison fighting his extradition to the United States that seeks his extradition for his reporting on their war crimes.
In this report we first see Dutch activist Djamila le Pair interview Gabriel about recent developments in the case of Assange, in front of the information booth she was allowed to host in the exhibition hall. Followed by a part of Stella’s address in the main auditorium, as taken from the live stream.

Conferentie Bitcoin 2022 lanceert eerste Europese evenement: Bitcoin Amsterdam 2022
De grootste en langstlopende Bitcoin-conferentie in de wereld lanceert in oktober dit jaar hun eerste evenement in Europa: Bitcoin Amsterdam. Het evenement van organisator Bitcoin Magazine vindt in oktober dit jaar plaats in samenwerking met Amsterdam Decentralized en Westergas in de Gashouder en het Transformatorhuis in het Amsterdamse Cultuurdorp. Bitcoin Amsterdam geeft een podium aan verschillende Bitcoin-experts, innovators en denkers binnen en buiten Europa.
De conferentie zal worden georganiseerd van 12 tot en met 14 oktober op Westergas in Amsterdam. Het event draait om de nieuwste ontwikkelingen in de industrie, met specifieke focus op Hyperbitcoinisatie. Eerdere sprekers op evenementen vanuit organisator Bitcoin Magazine waren onder andere medeoprichter MicroStrategy Michael Saylor, medeoprichter Paypal Peter Thiel en wereldberoemd tennisster en partner van Block Inc’s Cash App Serena Williams.
Bitcoin Amsterdam 2022 is de eerste grote conferentie van Bitcoin Magazine buiten Noord- en Zuid-Amerika en heeft als doel om deelnemers uit Europa te inspireren met de boodschap dat “geen continent achterblijft” in het streven naar Hyperbitcoinisatie.
“Europa loopt achter op andere regio’s als het gaat om acceptatie van Bitcoin door regelgeving en overheden, maar de vraag van ‘gewone’ beleggers en instellingen behoort tot de hoogste ter wereld,” aldus David Bailey, CEO Bitcoin Magazine. “Bovendien helpt de aanzienlijke gemeenschap van Bitcoin-ontwikkelaars en -innovatoren in Europa de toekomst van ’s werelds meest vooraanstaande digitale munt vorm te geven.”
